If you are new to Web publishing, read AceExpert's mini-tutorial in the Help file under "How to create a Web page in 10 steps" or check out the reference sites supplied in those same pages. The tutorial and sites contain very valuable information.
The "e" logo in some dialog windows indicates that the referenced command is only available in Microsoft Internet Explorer. The "n" logo indicates that the referenced commands is only available in Netscape.
You can modify most of the HTML tags. To do so, select the HTML code and click on the desired command or position the cursor at the beginning of the command and use the shortcut menu.

You have the choice to use the internal browser supplied with AceExpert or you can use Microsoft Internet Explorer if you have it installed on your system. To change the internal browser, go to the Options Menu>General Preferences and choose the Environment tab.
The option "Convert character" found on the Edit Menu is a necessary step so that your page is viewed correctly in all existing browsers and platforms. Use the option "Return to characters" to view the characters normally when you want to work on your page to make changes.
You can use the shortcut menu to quickly develop your Web page. This menu appears if you click on the right mouse button when the cursor is over the edit window. The shortcut menu contains options such as "Quick Image" and "Quick External Link" which allow you to insert an image or an external link quickly.
You can use the AceExpert's shortcuts to insert HTML tags that you use frequently. The list of shortcuts is found in the general help file.
The background color of the edit window as well as the size, font, color of text and tags can all be changed. To do so, go to the Options Menu>Editor Preferences and choose the Highlighting tab.
You can undo or redo the last actions you have made by pressing the CTRL-Z and SHIFT-CTRL-Z keys. You can also access these options by using the icons on the tool bar or the main menu.
You do no have to save your HTML file every time you open your external browser. You can create a temporary file by deselecting the mandatory save option in the Options Menu>General Preferences>Environment.
AceExpert can search for your Netscape or Explorer browser installed on your hard disk. In the Options Menu>General Preferences>General, indicate the browser you want to look for and then press the Search button.
To get help on a specific HTML or Javascript command, place the cursor on the tag and then press CTRL+F1.
On the browser's tool bar you can change the browser's resolution so that you can check that the page will be viewed correctly on all browsers.
In order to avoid reference to files contained in other folders, frm the Options Menu>General Preferences>Environment, select the option "automatic copy of referred files directly in the current directory".
An evaluation of the your document structure allows you to verify different components of the document, including links, images and external references. A yellow light indicates the document doesn't contain any dead links, while a red light indicates it contains one or more dead links.
The HTML syntax checking attributes can be changed by selecting the Syntax Menu>Edit Tags and Rules. Please note that if you want to change the file containing the rules, keep the original tags.ref file so that you have the regular file on hand in case you lose the file you create with your set of rules.
In order to run FTP Manager from AceExpert you need to have installed AceFTP 1.11 or higher. Make sure you have the most recent version so that you can take advantage of the improved features found in this software.
If you develop the same type of document frequently, you can save it as a custom template. Go to the File Menu and on the New tab, and then click on the New button.
